    Hi all,

I have a strange problem with a dv6-2190us notebook that cannot take a fresh install of win7/64 ultimate. Specifically, after I installed Win7/ultimate, I could not load the turboboost driver for the the core i7 processor that this notebook has. It kept telling me that my notebook does not have the minimum requirements for that driver. It does this to several other drivers. Because of this, my WEI is about 4.7 (that being the score for the CPU). My graphics card is about 4.9. I cannot install the drivers from their site, no matter what. This is driving me nuts. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the NBR forums, tommycat95!

You do not need to install the Turbo Boost Technology driver for your notebook. Only notebooks with a Core i5 processor need it.

Are you installing all of your drivers from the HP website? If so, you may want to look at the driver thread that we have here for more current drivers:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...-dv6-2xxx-dv7-3xxx-dv8-hdx16-hdx18-intel.html

EDIT: If you are updating the Synaptics TouchPad, use the second newest drivers (version 15.3.17.0) - the current version has an issue that we are waiting on.

Thanks Justin. I will head over there to check it out. Any ideas on why after I did a fresh install with a win7/ultimate, the WEI took a nose dive from about 5.9 (score for the hard disk, processor was at about 7) to the cpu now at 4.7 (lowest) and the graphics card at 4.9?

All I did was to go from a oem win 7-64/premium to a Win7-64/ultimate with a fresh install. Thanks

I wouldn't rely on the WEI so much, since it's just an indicator at the time the test was run. If you really want to see if your score does improve though, make sure that your notebook is plugged in using the 120W AC power adapter and that your power plan is set to either Balanced or High Performance.

Justin, you da man!! I was using a 65w power from another dv6 laptop and I should not have done that. I changed over to the 120w power supply and then got my cpu to go from 4.7 to 6.9. The graphics card was not shabby either. It was at 4.9. Here comes the best part. I followed your driver thread and boy, this machine screams like a banshee. I am at 5.9 (which is the hard disk) exactly the same when it came from the factory with the oem win7/premium. What a magnificent difference. Thanks a lot for your help and pointing me in the right direction. The support buffoons at HP are not help help at all. Thanks again.

The HP driver thread by Justin rocks. Thanks again
