dv6000 AC adapter for a dv2000

Hi everybody,

my girlfriend has a dv2000 (I don't remember the exact model but it has an AMD processor with NVIDIA graphics) and her ac adapter was stolen. My brothers have a dv6000 (also with amd and nvidia graphics) and she has been using for a couple of days their adapter and it worked. Somewhere I've read that while the original dv2000 adapter is 19v 4.7a 90W the dv6000 is 18.5v 3.5 65W... it has been working but the difference seems important. Could this cause harm to the laptop on the long run? why has this weird setup worked?

 

I belive that a dv6000 Ac adapter has higher volts wats and amps than a dv2000. Are you sure you didnt mix them up?

Anyway, verify the volatges, etc on the charger... Then look on your girlfriesnds notebook, under the battery it should say somewhere the volts, etc needed from AC adapter. verify that they match up. If not, i wouldnt use it.

I know that my dv9000 charger will work on a dv6000, even because the dv9000 charger is more powerful, it can handle the low power needed from a dv6000. Im asumming the same with a dv6000 and dv2000 as well. but check the voltages, wats, and all.

 

Voltage x Amps = Watts

More watts you have, the more load you can put on it.

DV2000's with dedicated graphics card come with a 90watt adapter. If it only has a integrated GPU then it comes with a 65watt adapter.

No it wont cause any harm. Notebooks have voltage tolerances.
