    Okay I've done some searchi(FFFF did it again!)ng to find a solution to this problem: When I'm typing and have the trackpad activated, the cursor will just randomly jump to where ever the trackpad pointer is, IF I have it turned on. I have to turn it off in order to even type this w/o it jumping around and just doing random window focuses on it's own. It's crippling when I'm trying to chat with anyone or even type in forums. This is driving me absolutely NUTS?! I tried typing slower, changing the snap-to settings, anything I can think of and nothing stops this but turning the ---> elpARRR!!!!track pad off?! H <---see?! :mad: :mad: :mad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

    there's really nothing you can do about that...

    though you can experiment with the touchpad sensitivity, and find a good balance... it's best that you just turn the touchpad off or put a piece of paper over it when you about to type something

    What? That's it? For a $$$ machine... I've tried typing without my palms even resting on the laptop and it still does it I think... This crazy! Thanks for the reply though!

    I think there were issues with the synaptics touchpad in the dv60XX series. the 65XX series has an alps touchpad. Try tinkering the settings, but otherwise, i guess the initial touchpads they were putting in were subpar.

    well, there is the 21 day return policy, has this only been happening recently? unfortunately, the 21 day period is to find nuances like this.

    I have had this problem on my HP DV6000 for several weeks. I now realize it was my fault. I was trying to clean up some unused programs, so I thought, and removed the "pointing device" which I thought was that red lazer beam thing you see at seminars. Well, it's not. It's the driver for the touchpad. My typing went crazy for awhile until I loaded the program back on my computer. What a relief!!!
    Here's the link for the driver:
    <ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37001-37500/sp37065.exe>

    Hope this works for you
