I have a circa 2008 dv6000 laptop running Vist 64-bit. It has a VGA out and a 7-Pin S-Video out. I'd like to connect it to my old Sony E55A20 TV.

The TV has several 4-pin S-Video inputs and 2 sets of Component Video inputs. The single HDMI input is being utilized by my DirecTV receiver. It has no VGA in at all.

What would be the simplest way to connect to the TV to watch streaming Netflix movies? Please note the S-video connections have different pins on the laptop vs TV. I'm also hearing of lots of driver issues with this particular model when connecting to a TV as well?

Lastly, is there a way to get sound out of the TV instead of the little speakers on the laptop?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Just use the 4 pin cable in the 7 pin output.

Thanks for the reply. Did you mean use a cable that converts 7-pin (laptop) to 4-pin (tv)?

Not. Just stick the 4 pin cable into the 7 pin outlet. I don't know if it reduces picture quality, but it should work at least.
