Well if anyone is still interested in AMD Turion X2 notebooks from HP this summer, I found out about these just recently (hope no one has already mentioned this). Even though the site is in French and may be directed to the french market (from the article), it should also apply to the North American market as well. It seems HP has placed semi decent GPU's in these newer models with the 7200 in the 15.4 inch dv6000 and a 7600 17.0 inch dv9000. I hope these come out soon and get to see some benchmarks to see how they compare to the previous models, dv5000 and dv8000.
Well heres the site translated...

Whow. The photo looks EXACTLY like a dv2000, but the article says it's a dv6000. Wonder if HP is coming out with the new design for their other models? It would make sense, as the design of both the dv2000 and v3000 seem to have generated widespread acceptance!
I'm just not sure if the article is mistaken in it's discription of the photo as a dv6000, because, again, it looks EXACTLY like a dv2000! -
Its a dv2000, 100% the dv6000/9000 combo will probably see elements from the 2000 but not the same. It seems now HP is going away from the speakers mounted in the front and putting them in standard spots.

Is it true? Is HP finally giving AMD some good graphics (7600)! I thought this was impossible. Maybe HP will give Intel better graphics though (7900, maybe?).

YES! It's about time. It's not the 7900GS I really wanted but it'll do. Now I just have to figure out how to pay for my shiny new dv9000 when they're available...

i hope these new models would be available before the summer ends to get great APP discounts before school starts... im craving for a 15.4" dv6000

Oh my god, I want a DV9000! Or an MSI MS-1042. I dunno! But the DV9000 looks like a DV2000 on steroids.
-
Whow!
Guess that answers the question "Is HP going to implement the new designs on their other models!"
They both look sweet. -
Any plans for Compaq? A 17" on thier new design would make me drool
Edit: Aw, so long as Compaq doesn't make the arrow keys level with the rest (scrunching the right shift key)I can't live with that.. Why, HP?

Just curious if anyone knows the language of the site with the pictures.
http://www.bug.hr/vijesti/?id=73373
And if possible a tool to translate this because this site has some information that I am quite interested in involving HP notebooks. -
Croatian, and tool to translate would be google translator.

Thanks for telling me that it's Croatian but google translator does not support Croatian so that's why I was asking for another translator tool but I've found one.
Thanks again. -
I saw a head to head test in a magazine that basically said outright taht the core duo was better and faster than the turion x2, and it conserves battery. I know the core duo is only 32 bit, compared to the 64 bit turion x2. is it really possible that the article was correct?

Possible, but the battery life advantage is small and likely mostly due to the weak Intel integrated chipset more than the CPU. Single-threaded synthetic benchmarks can often fit in the massive L2 caches the Core chips have, making them appear faster than they are in normal use. Some early notebooks were incorrectly configured with DDR2-533 RAM instead of DDR2-667, which didn't help. (Faster RAM won't help an Intel CPU much but AMD chips can make very good use of it.)
And then there's flat out fraud... -
Could you please Link to translator tool that does ? -
Well this is the one I used. It's not the best translator IMO but it should suffice.

Would you happen to know a translator for currency?
I was wondering what the below would be in US dollars?
In the news release it says in the French market they're going to be:
899 € -dv6000
1299 € -dv9000
Anyone know what that is in US dollars? -
899 = around 1,145.49 USD
1299 = around 1,655.39 USD

I'm in the market for a 17" laptop. I think HP/Compaq makes the best looking laptop on the market. I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on 8000t but I'm so dissappointed by their GPUs. Why won't HP put in like 7900 gtx 512mb in their top on the line 17" notebook? If they do I think HP will blow away the competition. Compared to dell's xps m1710, only thing that 8000t falls behind is the graphics department. I think we should write a petition to HP to include a strong GPU. I know that 7600 go is a pretty good card but I'm a serious gamer and I would like to have a high end card like 7900 gtx. Due to this i'm thinking of getting the dell but on the other maybe hp will release a new notebook with 79000gtx 512mb. You think HP will do it? Come on HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope HP will read this thread and wake up!

The 7900GTX runs too hot for a thin notebook like the dv9000, but a 7900GS (20W, IIRC) ought to be doable. I'd pay extra for that.
-
I emailed HP about when the dv9000 would be available, obviously I got no answer...just that they wouldn't disclose information about products that are rumored or have not yet been released.
I was really close to buying the dv8000t...but now it looks like i'll have to hold off and wait for the 9000. It's just real frustrating not knowing when I can purchase it. -
