Why oh why did hp decide not to allow us to configure at least a WXGA+ screen instead of WXGA!? I would've bought one yesterday if I could.. What does it hurt them to include more options?

whats the difference between WXGA+ and WXGA?

1440x900=wxga+
1280x768=wxga
If I'm not mistaken.. -
It'd be pretty hard to see text and such on a 15.4" notebook at 1440x900...
-
yup... i agree

I don't know. I'm looking at a 14.1" 1400x1050 (SXGA+) screen right now, and at 120 dpi, I find it's only difficult to read text on a few fixed-size websites and forums. And the new magnify option on IE7 takes care of those.
I, too, was disappointed that there's no WXGA+ option on the dv6000t. If you compare a dv6000 and a dv2000 side by side, it's obvious (to me, at least) that the 15.4" screen would really benefit from the higher resolution.
Of course, now that I've gone ahead and ordered my own 6000t, I hope that HP never brings out the WXGA+ option...

Yeah, but for many other programs, it'd still be hard to read the text/etc.

True. I did conveniently forget to mention that I have a couple of older programs that refuse to acknowledge the systemwide 120 dpi setting: Palm Desktop for one (talk about "month-at-a-glance"!) and Photoshop Elements for another. But with Photoshop, that's actually kind of a good thing. The rest of my programs look just fine with the resized text -- though not without a couple of glitches here and there.
But I'm also using a 14.1" screen -- and WXGA+ on a 14.1" is less than ideal, IMHO. That's what helped to talk me out of an Asus A8J. After having used this screen for almost 4 years, though, I'd be more than happy to have the same res on a 15.4". It's going to be tough to go back to WXGA...
dv6000 and screen resolution
