I haven't had my dv6000 for long, but i just recently noticed that the little charger/ac adapter for it is loud as balls. Is this normal?

It has a little high pitched noise coming out of it like maybe HP stuffed some micro-mice in there to run mice wheels to power my laptop. That really makes me wonder if HP packed enough food in there for the mice, or do I need to open the AC adapter and feel them regularly?

It doesn't really sound so much like internal sparks. If i hold it up to my ear, it sounds more like if you turn a TV to one of the snowy channels, but the noise kind of pulsates.

    It's driving me BONKERS.

....so nobody else's adapter makes noise? even if you hold it to your ear?

I've never heard one make noise, and i just checked my bro's Dell Adaptor... and it's quiet.

Guess i'll have to pop my "HP Tech Support" cherry. Which country will I be calling tomorrow? AfghanIndonesiraqipakchinastan?

A perfectly healthy one should not make any noise at all. Does it get extremely hot that you cant hold it at all?

Im guessing after loud noises comes explosions

    Warm, yes....

    Extremely hot, no.

I can still hold it in my hand no problem, but it is definitely warm.

I'm going to call this afternoon once I get done with the work & errands I need to do.

Power Adapters should not be making any noise. Also, the Power Adapter is going to get very warm, if it does get hot enough that if you left it in your hand it would burn you then also return it.

Anyways, all HP will do is mail you out a Power Adapter and then you will mail that one back. You'll get the part in a couple days and you won't really have any downtime, unless you stop using the malfunctioning Power Adapter.

I noticed that my latest power adapter makes a very high-pitched wine also. Sometimes I have to put my ear up to it to hear it; other times it's so loud, it drives me nuts. The adapter works fine otherwise.

The adapter getting warm is normal. My old power adapters, which were silent, would get extremely warm when charging and running the laptop, almost too warm to hold in your hand. Then again, they shouldn't be getting very warm if all they're doing is running the laptop and not charging the battery.
