This is the second hard drive I have replaced, but this time I am doing it myself. I bought the recovery disk from "Computer Surgeons", but cd/dvd is inoperable. Trying to create a USB recovery disk. Will/can this work?
Have tried creating a bootable USB but keep getting BOOT MGR missing.
Thanks for any help or advice

if youre doin a fresh install heres what i did.
download the Windows 7 OEM disk from a vendor, (use google, its legal, you can get a link from microsoft.com even)
burn the ISO to dvd (i used alcohol 120% but theres alot more ISO burning tools)
insert in dvd drive, and boot from dvd
use your product/activation keys on the bottom of your laptop to activate windows if/when it asks you for a key.
make sure you have all your HP drivers ready once windows is done installing. (you can get them from HPs website, make sure to know the model of your comp) -
OR
if you must install via USB
download the Windows 7 OEM ISO
then use the Windows 7 USB tool to convert your USB stick to a bootable version of windows 7.
Microsoft Store Online <--link to tool via microsoft
make sure you have your drivers, thats the only reason to use a recovery disk over an OEM disk because the OEM wont have the drivers to your specific machine
dv6000/dv6910 replaced hard drive but need help
