    So I'm getting no sound from my dv6000 laptop. I've found a few threads on sound problems with the dv6000, but I haven't found any specific to this issue. At first, I thought it was an audio driver problem (Conexant High Definition Audio), so I tried updating those a few times with no success, but then I realized that all the audio functionality seems to be working fine. When I adjust the volume in the task bar, it looks like it thinks it's making sound. What I'm noticing now is that the mute quick launch button is permanently red. If I press it, the mute status will go back and forth (even though sound never actually plays), but the button remains red no matter what. I think that might be the issue. Anyone have any idea whats up and how I can fix it?

    Thanks :)

    Check this Link.

    Another thing to try is take a pair headphones, and plug them into the front input. See if you get sound.

    Let us know how stuff goes.

    Sound doesn't play through speakers or headphones. And honestly, I'd rather not take anything apart just to get the sound working, especially when it seems like you're just putting the bad ribbon somewhere else ^^;

    Thanks for your help though. Anyone have any other potential solutions?

    The only other possible thing you can do to remedy this is;

    System Restore
    System Recovery

    I would try downloading the HP Quick Launch Buttons from the HP website and reinstalling them.
