I got a new dv6129. However, I have been having some wireless issues. Sometimes when I boot the system, wireless works fine. Then, seemingly randomly, it just stops working. I have tried sleeping and hibernating it, and sometimes wireless works when it comes back, other times not. Even a restart or complete shutdown sometimes does not bring it back. Sometimes the wireless card does not show up at all in the device manager, and other times HP Wireless Assistant tells that my wireless device is disabled in Device Manager. Device manager doesn't show it at all! I have built-in Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g WLAN adapter. I have all Windows Vista updates. Can someone help me?

p.s. Sorry for my language, I'm not form English speaking country.

I just got a dv6458se and I am having the same problem. Sometimes the wireless works, but most of the time it doesn't. I may send the computer back to HP.

Jaskom, just curious to know if you found an improvement with the new driver.

    Thanks.

Yep, that's something i am also experiencing with my Broadcom wireless card in my HP Pavilion. I've had the computer for 10 months now, and during that time i've tried all the Broadcom drivers that have been released during that time period, but still my wireless is erratic sometimes.

When it starts acting up, then what usually helps is moving the laptop around a bit. Then it works again for a while, and stops again. I mean, it stays connected and all, just not opening up webpages.
When i boot up the computer, then i usually have to connect and disconnect at least 5 times before the connection remains steady.

It can't be my wireless router or my internet that has a problem, because my desktop(connected by cable), and my older Compaq laptop(also connected wirelessly) work just fine and are not having these erratic internet problems.

Go into your power settings and change how the wireless adapter shuts down.

After three months, I still have the same problem. I have tried every solution I can find, and the wireless still doesn't work properly.

LEOMASTER you said that you have an issue with the dv6129 could you please tell me the processor on the notebook is it a AMD or a Intel /......

If it is a AMD processor then the main board has to be replaced as due to some reasons.. so you can contact your manufacturer for further assistance..

AFAIK it's a Microsoft/AMD/Broadcom combination. I have a dv2000z and the wireless worked for a year until the latest Microsoft updates. I have a feeling some updates is conflicting with the Broadcom driver. I re-installed XP, Vista x32 & x64 and the wireless stops working after the latest updates. For now I'll stay with XP MCE until SP1 for Vista comes out.

I sent my notebook in to HP for repair. The tech changed the BIOS chip and then flashed the BIOS. They sent the notebook back to me and - surprise - the wireless still doesn't work properly. I just e-mailed customer service again. This will be the first and last HP product I buy.

No, the driver did nothing. My gut told me to send this damn notebook back to Amazon when I bought it - I had a wireless issue from the moment I took the computer out of the box. I wish I had listened to my gut. hahahaah

Hello, I have bought a HP Pailion dv6000 with a 'Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter #2' adapter. wireless is a nightmare. within 2 days it works 2 times. I replace the driver but most of the time vista shows a limited connectivity. checking the adapter status shows 0 or a very limited number of bytes. I found out that the possiblity of working increase wenn i use a dedicated ip-configuration, I think the bad quality is to bad for DHCP. I tried to verify the HW with a KNOPPIX unix 5.1.1 CD but the Brodcom card is not itentified by KNOPPIX :(
Know I start thinking about sending this labtop back to HP, I believe it's a HW problem.

Known issue (many reports)....only fix is to send it in or have it replaced. I went through replacing the card, mb, drivers, etc and no fix....long story short, I went from a AMD X2 based laptop to an Intel...they replaced at no charge and gave me plenty of extras. Sorry, send it back....

Yeah, these models have this issue. There is no sort of software fix... Its a problem with cold solder on the south bridge, the logic board needs to be re-flowed. The only way to do this is to send it in to be serviced....

    FunnyX,

I am curious. What does "logic board needs to be re-flowed" mean? Do you mean re-soldered?

He's saying the soldering had originally been done at an insufficient temperature, so that the board needs to be re-heated so that the solder can "re-flow" at a correct temp, so, yes.

Need not worry, you can get it repaired for free as it is known issue with AMD processor notebooks.

The only thing u need to do is contact the nearest HP service center or HP customer care to get your machine repaired.........
