For people who have ordered off hp.com before, what are the prospects for my dv6000t to be built before the expected build date suggested online? On the HP website it said sep. 11, and I requested a two day delivery because i'm going to be out of the country for school on the 15th. I guess there's no way of knowing the answer; i'm just praying that it will get here on time.

hi....about those coupons, where do i input in the coupon number? I don't really see anyplace to put in the coupon number sooo juss wondering.

My dv2000t order experience
On Aug 31st I placed my order and the coupon worked for me at checkout. But, next day I got an email that my order was declined. The problem was with my billing address coz I recently moved. The HP rep placed me in a conf call with my bank and we sorted the issue. He told me that I would get a call back from an other hp rep to place the order "again".
Anyway when I got the call back I saw that the coupon was taken off along with my credit card info. The HP rep told me that the coupon has expired since then but since in my original order the coupon was accepted he told me that HP will credit my card with 200$ after 5 days of order shipment.
Will keep you guys posted about this... -

There seems to be a common topic with the HP laptops, which is re-installing Windows, to remove the "bloatware". What are the advantages to re-installing, vs just uninstalling the offending "bloatware" programs?
I ordered a DV5000t, and cancelled it 2 days later when I saw that the DV6000t had come out. I re-ordered the DV6000t below. HP actually offered me 5% off my 5000t order, if i didn't cancel it, but I wanted the newer machine. I purchased through the APP, and saved more than if I had used the $200 coupon code. I paid $1958.01 for this loaded model, with some xtra installed photoi and dvd software.
I was not able to choose a processor faster than 2 gig. Most of the reviewed models I have seen had the 2.16 gig processor. Was anyone able to get the faster processor?

Okay, as you can see I didn't upgrade the ram because I know there are better deals at newegg.com. The thing is, I don't know which ram is compatable for this notebook. I would like to get x2 1 gig cards, can someone help me out with this? Thanks in advance, gl to everyone w/their new dv6000t -
-
Thanks for the quick reply, I think this one might be the ram I'll get. Does anyone have a link for a similar item but a cheaper price? I thought I once saw it going around $75.
Also a quick question about the OS, what is better for dual core notebooks, xp home or professional, or does it make a difference at all?
Edit:
Ok I just purchased the laptop via phone, should be getting it w/in 2 weeks. For some reason the price showed up as $1,378 excluding the $50 mail in rebate, so that's pretty cool. Also got a free upgrade on microsoft office student edition, it includes powerpoint as well. -
dv6000t order shipped out today!
-
Lucky you. Make sure to tell us your impressions when you get it.
-
yeah... i hope mine ships by tomorrow.. hehe i wish it happens for all of us that are currently waiting =D
-
I'm thinking about buying a dv6000t before the end of the year. But I have one doubt: does it come with media card reader? The specs page doesn't mention it. I asked about it using the hp online chat and the guy said "yes, it reads mmc and sd" but I'm not sure I believe him 100%
Can anyone confirm it?

Hey people, by the way, I red some posts complaining about different HP LCD in the market, one Quanta and the other one Samsung, and some other ones. And people mentioned the Quanta being of superior quality and SEC very dim and low quality. Yesterday when I placed my order on the phone, I told the rep that I want a Quanta to put in place and she noted my order, and told me if I am not happy I can return it in two weeks time. So I will check it out and make sure that screen is nice and bright not like some you see in retail store.
You also better make sure before you regret it. Good luck. -
Hi people,
I needed a notebook for grad school a month ago, but held off coz i knew core 2 duo was around the corner. when it finally arrived, wtf: it was a $130 premium!
I'm a student on a tight budget, so I decided to go with core duo for now and upgrade to core 2 later next year (its only a drop-in upgrade). Ditto for the 512 MB ram, i'll upgrade to 2 gigs next year...
On the whole, I paid a $130 premium for the dv6000, as compared to a simarly compared dv5000t, and the 5000 had 1 gig ram and XP MCE, but the 6000 does have the webcam and imprint finish.
One interesting thing was that the regular store pricing - $200 coupon was $35 LESS than the APP pricing.
I placed my order on the 9/1 and its shipping on Sept 14th! Can't wait for it to arrive!

HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One
Mail-in rebates you qualify for:
$79.99 Notebook/printer
$50.00 Notebook rebate
So it was like:
Laptop: $1,212.99
Printer: $80
Kansas Tax: $82.52
Coupon: -$200 (NB7484 or NB8474, cant remember exactly....)
Total: $1,175.50
Mail in Rebates: 80 + 50 = $130
So it comes to 1175-130=$1045 after taxes and after all discounts and rebates. -
This might be a dumb question but how do you knoe what screen you have.
-
yeah i second that question and its not a dumb question. it was an essential question. heh
-
How you know what kind of LCD you got!
Just follow the step below and you will see an abriviation of Screen manufacturer and just google that, so here we go
1. Right click my computer,
2. Click property
3. Click Hardware Tab
4. Click Device Manager
5. Click Monitor
6. Under monitor you will see Plug & Play Monitor
7. Right click and property
8. Click on Detail tab
9. From the drop down menu chose Device Instance ID
10. There you should see the three or two letter abbriviation of company made that LCD.
Good luck and make sure you don't get lemon. -
Cool thanks. Now I just have to wait for it to come in....
-
HP still hasn't shipped my dv6000t
. It was supposed to ship the 8th, last friday. But under order status it still says "Order in production, estimated to ship september 8". Sigh
-
mine is suppose to ship today but it still hasnt shipped yet... hmm
-
mine too...
-
It's on its way! it was supposed to ship on the 14th, but today I got an email from HP, saying that it had shipped. I hope it gets here by Friday, so that I get to play with my new toy over the weekend
. am planning to wipe the hard disk and do a clean install of XP pro.
-
Mine just shipped today as well on the day it was suppose to. I hope it gets in by the end of the week.
-
mine shipped today too. are any of u upgrading the RAM? im looking to buy a 1x 1gb ram from newegg. anyone got any advice on which to get (its ok to have a 1x 1gb amd a 1x 256mb rite)?
-
mine hasn't been shipped yet either... I hope HP sends it tomorrow.
-
btw, did you guys get any sleeves for ur dv6000t?
-
I ordered mine the very first morning it became available. My shipment date was SUPPOSED to be September 8. Nothing....
Today I get an e-mail saying we are sorry but due to production delays, it won't ship until September 17th!!
F that! I had to be one of the very first to order the DV6000t, and I get screwed!
Oh, they did send me a $50 off coupon code to make it all better. F that, send me my computer!
I KNEW I should have bought the Dell
BUY the DELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I just got the same e-mail except mine is going to ship tomorrow the 13th (or is supposed to at least), when it was supposed to ship the 8th. Not sure what to spend that $50 on though, maybe some printer cartridges.
-
So it looks like HP really dropped the ball on this one...
I too received the same email that says my shipping date has been delayed until tomorrow, 9/13 (I also ordered the dv6000t on the day it became available and it was supposed to ship on 9/8). I spoke to someone in customer service at HP (after waiting for 15 minutes, but he was very nice and helpful) who said that the computer "Should" ship on the 13th, but there is no definite guarantee. The 13th is only the date that it will be "Built." It sounds like they have been overwhelmed with orders and/or the core 2 duo chips have been slow to come in from Intel...Whatever.
Either way,the HP representative guaranteed me that once my unit ships, it will be sent via 2nd Business day shipping at no additional charge (I had originally opted for the free 5-7 business day). If you signed up for the same shipping as me, and your shipment has been delayed, I would call HP to make sure they give you the complimentary shipping upgrade. If you paid the extra for express shipping originally, I would see if you can get your money refunded... -
I sent an e-mail to HP customer service today, referencing my displeasure with the delayed shipping of my DV6000t. (I posted earlier today, regarding the delay notice I recieved). The last line of my e-mail said "I know, you could care less..."
To my surprise, I recieved a personal e-mail back form a customer service manager, who apologized, and indicated that it would ship tomorrow (9-13) and would be sent 2nd day air, at no cost to me. Perhaps this is a good sign of things to come with HP!?!? -
The 5-7 days business is actually quite fast. It shipped from china on the 11th and is coming her on the 14th. Not bad if I do say so myself.
-
HP's awesome. They've upgraded my shipping too!
-
Just received the confirmation email this morning, 9/13, that the unit was shipped from Shanghai...Finally.
I'm a little concerned though because in my HP confirmation email it says that my shipping is 5-7 day...I hope this is a mistake and it's actually coming 2nd business day like HP said it would. I'll be tracking with FedEx, so we'll see.
If this gets screwed up, I might lose it. -
Mine says 5-7 days also, but the Customer Service Manager ASSURED me that is was going 2 day....
Lets Hope! -
bgeiger,
I just called FedEx directly, and they did confirm the package is being shipped 2nd Business Day.
The FedEX rep told me it should be here on Friday, AS LONG AS it gets through customs without a problem... -
Yep mine was also shipped, expected to be here by Friday.
-
Mine shipped as well, was picked up in Shanghai 9:44 AM today. It says online it will be delivered Friday. So it looks like anyone who is affected by this delay has been automatically upgraded to 2nd day shipping. Hopefully everything goes through customs OK.
