OK, I was wondering what dv6000t owners thought of the no-latch feature for closing their notebook. I haven't decided if this is going to bug me later on down the road so your feedback on this issue is significant in my decision making.

I thought the poll would be the most simple way to do it but further advice is much appreciated as well. Does it wear out at all?

You should have said dv6000 series. The t only means you've got an intel and not amd.

At the moment the hidge is holding on the spine. When it goes slack, we'll see!

I carry mine around in a notebook-backpack, so no difference to me anyways.

You should know, there is a little "something" that holds down the screen. When you push your screen down and it reaches the last inch or so it slaps your screen shut.
So I don't really think the hinge loosening after a while will make it so you have trouble keeping your notebook shut.

right. i've tested em out in the store. there probably should never be a problem with it staying shut.

i don't know....i guess i'm just a fan of having a latch to make things nice and secure. was HP trying to save 37 cents on each notebook? i noticed Sony does the same thing on a couple of their notebook models.

Hehe, I really don't thinks HP was trying to save with this feature as it proly costs more money to make a new design for a screen hinge, and the system that makes it shut, then it would to add some hinges.
I really think they were going for some style points, which I give them.
This is really bothering you tho it seems, so maybe this isn't the laptop for you, however with many others factors (price, performance, looks, etc) I think this should definetely be a minor thing when choosing a laptop... it's really not a big deal.
