Hi,
Basically, one of these two models is going to be the one... plus a 12 cell extra battery.
I think I'm leaning towards the nx7400 as it's more stylish (I like business notebooks) and I just love the WSXGA+ screen. I'm not interested in multimedia features like card readers, tv tuners or webcams nor in powerful video cards, I just want a decent battery life laptop, that performs well, it's not noisy or hot, and both models have that.
So I just wanted to know... is there something I'm missing about the dv6000t or the nx7400? Like a feature/characteristic that might make me change my choice?
Also, I've found the dv6000t in stores (non-online stores) like CompUSA but not the nx7400 (I didn't search that well though). So do they only sell the nx7400 online?
Thanks in advance![]()

Yeah, places like CompUSA and Best Buy don't usually carry a lot of business notebooks in stores - heck, even places like Staples and Office Depot seem to generally stock more of the general consumer models, etc. If you're lucky you might find a random ThinkPad or something.
You'll need to look online usually for the business notebooks. -
The only places I know the nx7400 might be sold...
HP.com
Best Buy for Business (google it and you'll find it)
CDW
NewEgg -
OK, thanks for your replies.
I was wondering, about the HP's nx7400 battery... I'm not sure if the 12 cell battery can be added to the 6 cell one or it just replaces it. Like you can get an 18 cell battery (12 + 6 cell)... -
aLiNuSh,

Hope that helps, Regards don -
Lol, no that doesn't happen where you can combine 2 batteries to make 1, if you buy a 12 cell, it will replace the 6 cell.
-
You can get a second battery for the nx7400, and according to the specs page it can get about 12-13 hours with the main primary battery and the ultra capacity secondary battery attached.
The primary battery stays put, and the second battery can plug into a port on the bottom of the notebook. -
xtyfvb: Get your facts right before you laugh at people. Some laptops have been able to have a second battery for years.
aLiNuSh: As far as I can tell the 12-cell will fit in the 2nd slot. Looking at the 8-cell it looks like it fits inside.
Do a search for the part numbers on the Hp website, you'll find more info on each item.
So like you said, you should end up with a 12+6. -
BTW, I don't know about the 7400 for sure, but on the nc8430, the extended battery (which incidently does attach onto the bottom as a second battery) is actually 'C' Shaped, and leaves the docking connector exposed -- this would allow the system to be docked while that battery connected (and therefore also able to be charged). Personally with my nc8430 I figured it'd cut down on airflow too much so I didn't go that route.
The Ultra Capacity battery covers this connector but comes with its own AC adapter to charge it. It also extends about 3/4 of an inch past the back of the laptop.
Also, I had a second battery that I could plug into an Inspiron back in either 1999/2000 if you wanted to remove the CD-ROM. Auxillery batteries are way old, although larger batteries seem more common these days. -
Thanks for your replies, I've found this HP 12-cell Ultra-Capacity Battery (EJ092AA) for 200$ everywhere I searched for.
Does anybody know if this battery is going to influence the temperature of the laptop? Make it hotter somehow? -
I use the 8-cell Common Travel Battery and it doesn't really increase the temperature of the notebook. If anything, it allows for greater airflow due to the elevated position. The extended batteries attach to the secondary connector on the bottom of the notebook and can be used in conjunction with the original battery.

Thanks, that's great to know.
So do you have a 14 cell combo battery? How long does it last? -
I have one thing to say...errrr i hope your not refering to the dv6000t, and the nx7400 being able to do this...............
dv6000t versus nx7400
