Would it be best to purchase directly through HP? I want the Core Duo, probably the 1.6Ghz. I only need 512mb of ram because newegg.com has another 1GB for $80. Do I need a 12 Cell battery and the 3 year warranty? Does HP offer any discount codes or EPP pricing? I would even use my dad's AARP card if there is a discount there.
Also want Vista Premium and a graphics card, no integrated graphics. This laptop will be a backup and for cruising the net only.
Does HP offer Dell like coupon codes 20% off etc.? It seems cheaper to buy at BestBuy or Circuit City vs. HP based on price.
I want to spend $800-$850.

Purchasing through HP is the best way. You can customize a notebook to your specs and pay only what you want to with your own configuration.

12 cell battery or 6 cell? Which one is best? Is the 12 cell way to big and does the 6 cell provide at least 3 hours of battery power?

Check out the review I did of it..

If you are a student you can sign up and get a discount on it. I think it's called APP or something like that.
