    G'day all,

I realise that i'm kinda in the category of a prospective dv6000 owner, as it's the machine that i'd prefer to buy. However, being a long way from, well anywhere globally even though i'm sydney based, it looks as though the only HP model offered here is the dv6113tx, which is shocking- only 1.66 core 2 duo and bloody expensive compared the US...and pretty much no customisation as in the US.

Does anyone know what HP's policy on overseas distribution is - i.e. am I likely to see a reasonable (and preferably at least partial customisable) dv6000 here?

    cheers,

    dan

Mate, it seems you're out of luck. I ran into the same problem before and settled for the nc8430, at a much more expensive price than I could have gotten in the US.
I hate how we're being sidelined simply because we're a smaller market.

A viable alternative is to just get the 6113TX and swap the T5500 with a T7200 or higher after purchase. This might void the warranty. Else, you'd have to settle for other brands like Toshiba's A100, Asus F3Jm or Dell, all of which offer the T7200 option at better value (but lower quality from my experience).

I found this interesting model (after I ordered my nc8430):

Seems like an excellent deal to me.

thanks for the quick reply Chris - I'm tempted to get friends to bring out from the states after Christmas, but problems with customer support and upgrades to vista make me very hesitant...plus it's near impossible to salary sacrifice it then

it is a pain though - if the factory's in China, it's just a long to get it here...
