I took my dv6000z apart to install a BT module. Now when I press the power button nothing happens, but when I press hard on the volume buttons it turns on. This is really weird. Any suggestions.

Re-seat the power board and ribbon cable

lol my power button did that and I could only turn my laptop on with the DVD button. Check the cable and make sure that it is properly seated in the connector. That was the problem with mine.

I looked at that manual but there are some differences between it and my machine.

There is one cable that goes from the mainboard to the power button, underneath it. It is one of those ZIF cables that I hate. Is it possible that something is wrong with the cable. I took it in and out a couple times in the past few days to put in a new part, could those couple times of worn it down.

Also if you have access to a better manual that would be helpful. Thanks alot.

I removed it and pressed the silicone button down, on the underside, and it didn't turn on so it must be something with the cables.

Your powerboard and keyboard isnt working properly. Did you remove the ZIF connectors properly?

    Replace your keyboard first

Try reseating it a few more times. If nothing works then you have no choice but to replace it.

Sounds like the ZIF connectors are damaged, causing your keyboard to partially work.

Someone actually PM'd me today with a power button problem. As follows:

Think it's the cable from the keyboard or the connector on the main board. If it's the one on the main board I'm pretty much screwed aren't I.
