    Hello.
I updated the drivers to the newest audio drivers and device mgr sees it
and says the audio is working. Went to sounds and checked playback
and the speakers are set for the laptop. Tried the reg speakers select and
still nothing. Sound comes from the headphone jack, but not the laptops
speakers. Newest BIOS was flashed and still nothing.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks in advance.

Its a annoying windows bug. Just go to sounds menu and set speakers and headphones to default device.

Well thanks, but now the unit won't even light up ! I don't know
what happened. All seemed to be working ok save for the speakers, then
when I had the speaker panel loose and NOT touching anything except
for myself who was grounded, the unit would at first light up with the
blue lights, then it stopped altogether. I thought "Oh, No" the updated
BIOS corrupted it, so I pulled the CMOS battery out after removing
the AC and the battery, waited at least an hr and still nothing.

Got another not new, but functioning power button, checked the power
cables which seem fine and well connected, but still nothing. No lights,
no boot, no HP screen, no nothing. I don't know what happened, but
    I'm fearing for the worse.

Any suggestions, hints or advice ?

    Thanks in advance

Battery out, AC out, hold down the power button for 30 Secs. Put just the AC back in and try to boot up.

Thanks for the reply. I got it going again. Took it apart and looked at
the cables. One didn't look right. I had received extra cables when I
bought the power button and the speaker housing. Replaced both
and sure enough if it didn't light up, boot up and had sound !

Very happy and very relieved as it was a co workers of mine, who is
in a supervisory roll at work. Now all is good save for the date and
time. I reset the date and time in BIOS and in the control panel
correctly, but I keep getting these "certs" windows popping up, etc.

I can't get into certain sites and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Any suggestions, hints, etc are most welcomed.

    Thanks in advance.
