Well, a friend of mine bought a dv6125se in the us, and it came with windows media center 2005. He wanted me to install xp pro in spanish.
So I did, I have the xp pro sp 2 disc. Booted, formated the os partition and restarted to continued the instalation.
I encountered the first problem here. The recovery utility keep starting and I couldn't pass it so I can go on to the xp installation.
So... after fighting it a little while without succes, i just formated the whole hd (recovery and quickplay partitions too). The recopied the files, and restarted the xp pro install.
It did boot from the hd with the xp pro installation, but as soon as I got the first screen, I got a "lsass.exe unknown error" and then the laptop restarted. It started a loop. Boot xp installation, error, restart.
I tought It was my disc, but noup, I tried five different disc with xp pro and still the same problem. Formated like 10 times and still the same.
The thing is, I can install media center without problem. And vista too. But xo pro just doesn't seem to work.
Sometimes I don't get the "lsass.exe" error, but the installation hangs when it says it's installing all the drivers and stuff.
So, i'm guessing it's something in the media center and vista disc, maybe come controller or something, that the xp pro sp 2 install disc doesn't have.
Anyway, It's anyone had this problem or heared something like that?

    Thanks in advance.

I have my dv6125se with the free Vista Home Premium Edition, and it works great. If you try to install the Vista. Boot from the Vista Upgrade CD directly (it worked for me) and not in the way they say. (don't follow instructions). then install drivers from the HP Upgrade CD without Flashig the BIOS (it's worthless, Bios Flashing it's for XP os) Bye
