    Hi,

I have a Pavilion dv6188ea it came with XP Home. Upgraded to Vista Home Premium, no problems.

I found that they have an update for my BIOS firmware on my laptop's driver website, so I downloaded it and applied it. Ever since my battery would not hold a charge for more than a minute or two.

So I want to know if it's possible to downgrade the firmware of my BIOS, or any other solution available.

Here is the link my laptop's driver website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3299654&lang=en

    Thanks in advance.

I believe F.25, I might have updated to F.26 before I skipped straight to the current F.29.

You can downgrade, no problem for that. I can't see how the BIOS could bomb your battery, though.

i know the bios also has control to some power management features, but still hard to believe it can do that to your battery.

With BIOS's you can downgrade/upgrade to whatever version you want. As the bios storage chip/space completely gets overwritten everytime

There are risks to changing bios's which can turn your laptop into a expensive paperweight. So do it carefully and follow the instructions

The description of the F.29 BIOS lists the following as one of the fixes: Resolves issue that occurs with some battery packs where the battery cannot be charged if the battery capacity is empty. So it seems like it should fix that problem, not cause it.
