Is the microphone enabled in the Volume Control in Windows Vista. its probably just muted somewhere. Also, check the software accompanies the sound card drivers to make sure that it isn't muted in there, and check that the bar for it is full in both the software and Volume Control. Hope this helps.

The sound program is probably the cause of it. it normally sits near the time, if you double click it, it should display sound properties. From there, you should be able to navigate to a place where it shows you volume bars for all the different devices, and the microphone should also be listed. There you can turn the volume up, or unmute the device.

I have the same Mic and laptop, what program are you using to record the mic with?

It works fine for me but you can't really record anything terribly quiet.

Have you got an external microphone that you could use to test in the in-built one. That way you can eliminate the possibility of the current on not working.

i am using with the program that came with VISTA.
and i tried to check the microphone via the MESSENGER tool and the SpeechRecognition , in all programs the indicator of the volume no working (that mean that the microphone not working).

Try using the basic Sound Recorder in Vista, turn all the levels for the mic up to their highest setting and scream into the mic, then play it back.

If that doesn't pick anything up then you may need to reinstall the Mic drivers.
