My charger crapped out, just when I decided to get a new laptop.
However, I was giving this laptop to my mom, so would a standard dv6 charger work with it?
    Help, please!

The new notebook chargers will not initially fit into a dv6000 series notebook. However, there are official dongles that will make the adapter work with older notebooks including the dv6000 series. Search for HP part #414136-001.

Alternatively, you can buy an HP notebook adapter and it will come with this dongle that I've been mentioning.
