My dv6345us is crashing all the time.

Whats funny about this is that this system was a replacement for a system with a defective motherboard.

HP replaced my defective dv5030us with the dv6345us after months of hell trying to get them to fix it properly and them failing.

But now I can't even do any light web browsing on it because it crashes.

It even crashes when pressing the chapter skip button while watching DVDs.

I'm not talking about software crashes either.

This is a good old fashioned full system lockup reminiscent of the pre-Windows XP days.

This has been happening since I first got it. But its gotten worse with time. There are no viruses, no spyware, nothing. Just the default HP software installation.

I'm going to lose even more hair if this continues.

I wonder if HP would be so kind as to exchange this system for my repaired dv5030us?

First try to make clean install of the system with hard formatting of your HDD etc. If that won't help - let HP know about it and I am sure they will replace it if it's still under warranty. Good luck!

click Start and type reliability, then click it. In the window click reliability monitor. It will show you what's crashing and when.

I don't know if that would help too much considering the entire system locks up in an old pre-Windows XP fashion. The only option when that happens is to shut the system down by holding down the power button.

What you're experiencing sounds more like a hardware issue than a software issue. I suspect bad RAM. I'm sure there's RAM testing software available; but I don't know the names of them. Perhaps another forum can enlighten us on good memory/RAM testing software. It's worth a try.
