basically, the problem I'm having is that periodically, the screen will black out for a split-second before returning. I'm not sure how far apart they are, 10, 15 minutes, or maybe longer. It seems to happen regularly.

Anyone know what might be the problem? It's not a really big deal, just a minor annoyance, but I'm more worried about the frequency of these flash-outs increasing or lasting longer than a split-second.

I checked the integrated intel chipset video drivers, according to device manager, they were up to date (after an online check for new drivers).

Assuming that you are running Vista.
It's a common problem with Vista and driver in-incompatibility issues, especially with video card driver.

Normally, I would get sudden "black outs" (multiple times) during Windows Logging. Other than that, it's pretty normal.

However, some softwares or games might have incompatibility issues with Vista as well, every time when you start that particular software/game, the screen also blacks out as Windows Vista would switch to the "basic" theme rather than "Aero".

It's really no big deal, if it bothers you that much, find out which driver/software is causing the incompatibility issue, then that should solve your problem.

I haven't heard of this problem with integrated graphics before. Mostly the problem is blamed on bad nVidia drivers. You might want to search the forums for more on this.
