I have a HP 12 cell battery and I only get 2 hours battery life with wifi. I downgraded my BIOS to f16, which has definitely lowered the pc's temperature by almost 30 degrees, but battery life is still 2hrs. I disabled Aero and the sidebar...no change. I completely discharged/charged the battery 3 times to calibrate. HP's health check says the battery is good, but still 2 hrs (according to rmclock which I have tried with and without its power management features).

Is this normal? I have a t7200 inside. Even Dells beat 2 hours!

no its not normal...my 9 cell on a dell vostro gets 3 times your HP's battery life...could be some processes that are sucking up processor/HD resources?

I don't rally have anything running. Kaspersky for antivirus which I have heard is less intensive than Norton. Wifi and rmclock. Sidebar is disabled. Re-enabled Aero since disabling it changed nothing.

    Maybe its Vista?
Oh BTW, I have noticed that Dells usually get better battery life than HP.
