    dv6500 Cant find vista Activation Script

    Can anybody help with this problem, I'm so wanting to obliterate this hard drive and get a clean copy. I just cant find this c:\windows\oemcert directory. I cant even get vista to show all hidden files.. Geeeeeeeessss

    this is in reference to this thread,,, Clean Vista install WITH NO ACTIVATION

    That thread also has a discussion that HP might have changed their activation scheme after so many people found out about the current one. AFAIK no one knows how to do it on VERY recently purchased machines.

    You probably will have to manually reinstall and activate using the key on the bottom of the laptop.

    I have a new method which I'm testing now. Hopefully I will be able to release it this weekend. I've been very busy and unable to do a final test :(.

    Finaly i just called it into microsoft. i took me about 15 minutes to do..
    What are the implications if any.. I'm just wondering was all this "JUST TO AVOID CALLING INTO BIG BROTHER" or what. I just don't get the big picture here.

    Also, It wasn't so clear to me but one can reinstall vista from the upgrade cd that comes with your machine. Apparently you just have to bypass the part where windows asked for a key during installation.

    My clean install guide is just to "avoid big brother". There really aren't any other implications.
