I've noticed something weird with my dv6500t running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Whenever I put the laptop in sleep or hibernate mode at night it comes on at 4 am and since I don't do anything to it, goes back into sleep mode, but not hibernate. If I shutdown completely it doesn't do this wakeup thing on it's own.
I'd rather hibernate or sleep the laptop than wait so long for it to boot up.
I thought maybe it was because I have Automatic Updates set to run, but I changed the time from 3AM to 5PM and it still happens at 4AM.
Also, is there any way to get the blue light where the power cord would connect to stay off? I plug in my power cord to the Quickdock. I sort of like the "night light", but I'd like to be able to control it![]()
Otherwise, I am quite happy with my new laptop.
Is there anyway for me to check what might be making it come on?

check for scheduled tasks
are you sure it wakes up even from hibernation? -
Mike - Have you configured the Media Center yet? yes? Well that is it then. Every night the Media Center will wake up your Lappy and retrieve the Guide.
I have my guide disabled from automatically retrieving for this very reason. One night I had left my laptop in sleep/Hibernate mode but on batteries. It woke up attempted to do it's thing and zapped my battery. I was in for a rude suprise.
Hollar if you can't find the setting to turn the Auto Guide off. I will go look it up.

Can you tell where to change these settings? Thanks

Sure - Start Media Center and goto Settings->General->Automatic Download and change to the Manual Download and save. Also notice there is a DOWNLOAD NOW button. Since you only have 14 days(I think) worth of the guide you probably should do this weekly if needed.
In XP there was a program called EPG_ChangeDownloadTime that would allow you to change the time of when Media Center would grab the guide. Unfortunately this still defeated the purpose of sleeping or hibernating so I never tried or pursued in Vista and this Laptop.
Hope that works for ya.

I found it in Tasks > Settings > TV > Guide
Then I went to Set Up Guide Listings, selected Next, selected Yes use the region to configure TV services, then clicked Next, let it go through Download Setup options and then selected No to the question Do you want to use the Guide, clicked Next and it said I was done.
Hopefully tonight it won't wake up on me. It's too bad you can't control what time it checks the guilde listing.
Since I don't have a high-speed connection and don't have it automatically dial my ISP it gets a Guide error anyways!
