    Hi All,

I recently install XP Pro on my new dv6500t, using this site as a guide: http://www.nogodforme.com/HPDV6500T.htm

I installed all the drivers per the tutorial and even checked for additional drivers on HP's site and Realtek's site. After several hours of google searches and forums searches I haven't made any progress.

Has anyone been able to get:

    1. Audio working on XP
    2. Quicklaunch buttons working XP

Is so, could you share how?

    Many thanks.

Thanks for the quick response Kubel. The files above are exactly what I used, but for some reason the sound and Quickplay buttons are not working. The system doesn't see an audio device. Very strange.

I almost thought it was a hardware issue, but everything worked fine with the factory installed version of Vista.

Any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Kubel,
I tried uninstalling the drivers I had in place, and then I downloaded the drivers you linked to and installed those, but still have the same results.

One curious thing, the driver you linked to:

    AUDIO DRIVER:
    ftp://210.51.181.211/cn/nic/PCI_Install_5671_200706.zip

When I run the install, it actually says:
"REALTEK GbE & FE Ethernet PCI NIC Driver" during the installation.

I have also tried manually installing the RealTek High Definition Audio driver using device manager, but Windows in unable to start the device.

I'm not hardware/driver expect, but I've installed my fair share. I am I missing something obvious? Any insight at this point would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again all.

Well, I know there are three drivers I installed from Realtek.

Did you do 3 of them?

And did you install the UAA driver first?

I went in the order I have them listed on my site. After installing the chipset drivers, the quicklaunch is one of the first drivers I install. I had no errors and those buttons work. So it's very odd that the quick launch buttons are not working.

I have a brand new DV6500T with the 8400GS I'm going to be formatting this weekend. We'll see what happens with it.

I finally got audio and the Quickplay buttons working. I ended up having to uninstall all of the audio related drivers and Quickplay, including the UAA driver... then I downloaded all new copies and reinstalled them all in the exact order this site lists:

    http://www.nogodforme.com/HPDV6500T.htm

Not sure where I went wrong the first time thru, I am fairly certain I installed the correct drivers in the correct order. Then again, it was pretty late and I was hyped up on "New Notebook" adrenaline. Many thanks to those who posted advice.

I am now going to enjoy my new dual boot (XP Pro and Vista) dv6500t.

Here is a link to hp web page with the available xp drivers
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3369405&lang=en

I found the audio driver at this site
    http://tinyurl.com/2flb6p

but then it didn't work at the begining!

As soon as I downloaded and installed IntelĀ® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* XP, it recognized the sound and it installed itself right away!!
