dv6500t and hp recovery...not working!!!

I am trying to restore my computer to its original factory condition. I ordered the recovery dvd from HP when I purchased my notebook. I figured I would be ok if this ever happened and decided to delete the recovery partition on my hard drive.

However, I've tried several times to use the recovery dvd and when I turn the computer on with the disc in the drive, it says 'windows is loading files' and then goes to a black screen and never loads. Nothing I do can get recovery to start up.

I called HP support. This is my 2nd laptop after my 1st was repaired 3 times and I had to deal with a case manager to get a replacement. The tech support person had me go into bios and check the hard disk...it passed. He then said it was a hardware problem and I'll have to send it back for repair, but I cannot send it in until a case manager calls me because this was a replacement from a case manager.

I called back demanding they send me a replacement recovery dvd in the meantime because I know this case manager process will take a very long time and I depend greatly on my laptop.

Do you guys think it could be a bad disc or something wrong with the computer? Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks!

 

The recovery DVD's that HP sends you is generic(its also used to recover other DV models). These are known to fail alot or take very very long to recover.

The recovery disks you create/burn from your laptop is model specific to your laptop. These have a lower failure rate.
