Hi, I just got a brand new dv6500t and I love it so far. I have a few questions though:
1.) This thing comes loaded with a bunch of crap HP put on and I plan to do a fresh install, however there are some things the laptop came with that I would like to save, for example Roxio easy CD creator and lightscribe. Is there a way to get these reinstalled?
Also, I never got that anytime upgrade DVD, in fact, I didn't get a single CD or DVD with my laptop. Is there a way I can do a completely fresh install of vista without all the crap without this? Is it possible to make a recovery disk that will do a fresh install?
2.) I ordered it with the high capacity 6 cell battery, not the standard one. Is there any way I can tell if I did in fact recieve the high capacity one? I don't see anything on the battery that really tells me anything.
Thanks!

Look at your invoice.. It should say hi capacity battery. Does it say how much Mah rating it has? I know on my Toshiba the normal mah rating is 4000 mah.. I got a hi capacity one that is rated 4500 mah. Look at the battery and tell us if it has a mah rating and how much. That info should be printed on the battery. Then maybe someone else here can tell us what the normal mah rating is for the regular 6 cell.
Most of your software will be on the recovery discs you burn.. HP should send you a free anytime dvd if you call and ask for it. From what users report, its impossible to make a fresh install from the recovery discs.. You need the anytime DVD for this.
If you really want to keep the roxio or any other stuff you might try uninstalling and tweaking the pre-installed vista to make the OS faster. I doubt HP will offer separate discs for Roxio etc..
From this site, you can see that this person only received the upgrade anytime CD. So you should at the very least get that from HP. http://www.nogodforme.com/HPDV6500T.htm -
Awesome, thanks for the reply. I will give HP a call about that DVD. Also too, I was looking for the mAH rating on the battery and couldn't find one but apparently they rate it in watt hours, so this is the 55Wh battery and I searched hp and the normal one is 47Wh, so I am good in that regard. Thanks again!
