I'm in the market for a new laptop, and have considered the laptop stated in the title. My specs are listed below:

    -Vista Ultimate 64 Bit
-Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.0
    -2 GB of Ram
    -383MB NVIDIA 8400 GS
-Intel Pro Wireless AGN Network w/ Bluetooth
    -120GB 5400 RPM HD
    -LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
    -High Capacity 6 cell battery
    -Microsoft Works Suite
    -Corel Combo
    -2 Year Warranty

I think this setup is good, as I will be doing school work, internet browsing, listening to music, watching DVDs, and light gaming. However, will this machine run these games:

    -Halo 1
    -Counter-Strike 1.6
    -Guildwars
    -Neverwinter Nights 1 and expansions
    -Empire Earth 1 & 2
    -Morrowind and Expansions
    -Call of Duty
    -Red Orchestra
    -Unreal Tournament 2004

I would think a system like this could run these games, as they aren't very graphic intensive. Yet, I would like to try some intensive games such as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic V, and the new Battelfield games. If anyone has any opions on this build and what it can do, please don't hesitant. Thanks in advance.

The specs should be fine to play those games. Words of advice though, with your computer, don't purchase the two year warranty shown in the customization options. These are the 'All-In-One' warranties that cover 3 peripherals, which is unnecessary for almost all customers. Instead, purchase your warranty separate. If you want a two year warranty, check here.

It should be able to run all the games you mentioned in the list at the highest settings or close to it. The other games you mentioned in the paragraph will most likely run at medium or even high settings if you don't crank Anti-Aliasing and stuff.

justin-h...i don't understand why you keep telling people this about the warranty. I just checked the prices, and they are exactly the same. With my APP discount, in the customization the warranty you linked to is also 132.99. I also checked the accidental damage warranty and they were both 237.49. The warranty's in the customization are clearly marked if they include peripherals...Do your homework!!

Thanks all! You've been very informative. This system looks so cool! I also had some other concerns. Are the new HP notebooks upgrade friendly? Like, can I switch out and replace memory modules without any problems, or can I switch out the CD Drive or Hard Drive? I just want to know if I can upgrade this system myself in the near future. Also, how are the screens on these notebooks. I have a old Pavilion dv1000, and the screen isin't too bad, but I hope HP made some enhancements to make it even better. I was also thinking of adding some external speakers in the mix. Does this laptop have a good sound card? Thanks again!

I switched out the memory on my dv6000t, it took me a few minutes to figure out completely how the ram fits in, but after that it was very friendly, loading like normal with new ram :)

Buddy17... actually, go look at the dv6500tse, the THREE year warranty is 275.49 with the APP discount. If you look separately, the warranty is 189.99. The difference is, the customized options ONLY show the Total One 3 Year Warranty. If you are looking at any thing greater than 2 years, it is important to look at the individual warranties, you can save nearly 100 dollars. Please do your homework next time before coming on here and being critical.

I have the brightview for the d6000t and it's clearer than my samsung monitor (in signature). Nice and bright in my opinion.

i went to bestbuy today and saw both teh regular and the special edition. i must say, the regular one looks 10x better. the white top just looks out of place, considering the rest of the body is still silver. now if the whole thing was white it'd be different, but black still looks the best imo.

Since the dv6500tse is basically just a dv6500t with a (mostly) white case, it will hold 4GB of ram, however, you have to order Vista Ultimate to fully utilize it.
