I came across yet another model from the dv6500t series; the HP Pavilion dv6575ca. Click here to view the source at which I found this model, along with the product specifications.

This model is packed with EXACTLY what I want in my new notebook, no more, no less. If I could customize my HP here in Canada, it would be customized exactly the way the dv6575ca is. My mind is made up about this notebook.

I'm wondering now where I can pick one up. Costco seems to have it online. I'll be checking my local Costco for stock today. However, are there any other stores that carry this notebook that I overlooked? I just want to compare prices.

I believe that Circuit City carries them as well. That's the only other place I know of. Hope this helps! :)

In the United States, not in Canada.

UPDATE: I just realized this notebook doesn't have Bluetooth.

    No worries...

And just throwing it out there; this model is only available for purchase online at www.costco.ca.

Finally the new line is surfacing in Canada. Only thing I don't like about this is the hard drive which is only 4200 rpm. It's wise to wait as there will be different spec'd ones releasing soon and with back to school sale coming up right?

There better be more choices soon. This is ridiculous. If you want Bluetooth, you have to settle for a slow processor. If you want a fast processor, you can't get wireless-N. I am willing to dish out tons of money on an HP notebook but I can't! And do you know why?! Because HP doesn't offer me a notebook with what I want! Give me what I want! I'll pay the price! JUST GIVE ME THE CHOICE!

You're much better customizing your own, applying the Academic Purchase Plan discount, and waiting 9 days for them to ship it out for you.

I paid 1171 for my HP Special Edition dv6500t, (with taxes). It has everything you have, plus bluetooth. Actually, I lied. I opted for the 160 gig hard drive, because I can't stand the thought of 4200 rpm. The best option, really, is to get the crappiest hard drive and upgrade it to a 7200rpm aftermarket.

Why someone would go out and get one immediately for 1400 is beyond me. :D

Yes I would be much better customizing my own. However, HP Canada does not give us that option.

Why is HP neglecting it's Canadian customers? I think they must use Canada as a dumping ground for old US stock.
I may just sneak across the border and buy a new HP rather than wait for them to show up here. Would HP Canada warranty service my laptop if I bought it in the US?

That's one of the few concerns of mine stopping me from picking one up in the States. If ever you have any trouble with it, HP may be inclined to tell you it's off warranty because you purchased it in the States.

I'm waiting at the moment for any news on new models that may come out in the next 2-3 weeks or so. However, I might just go out and buy the HP Pavilion dv6575ca at Costco. It lacks Bluetooth, but so does the Sony FZ-180 that costs $2,499.99. So go figure.

I'm not sure about buying a notebook from Costco. If you purchased a computer from Costco, did you ever have any trouble with the warranty and service? Did it arrive with no problems?

I spoke with an online technician at HP Chat. After looking it up, the technician informed me that the default OS is English and a French OS is available upon special order.

I have an update to the answer to the question about the bilingual feature of this notebook.

The bilingual feature means the keyboard is both English and French. The white keys are English and the special French characters are in blue. It looks really nice.

The OS is both English and French. When you start the notebook for the very first time, you have the choice of English or French.
