I just got a dv6700 a week or two ago and am pretty pleased with everything so far. However, everytime I pick up the computer and one of my hands is holding the left palm rest (over the hard drive) the computer completely shuts down, like the power was just completely cut. In fact, any time there is more than just a little pressure (more than just the weight of my hand), either from above on the palmrest or from underneath this happens. HP will look at it, but I give them the computer for a few weeks. I guess I'll suck it up and do that unless y'all have any easy suggestions or experience with this. Thanks for your help.

I dunno if that's the cause to be honest. It seems the problem occurs in only one area on the notebook, as though there is a power connection that is being interrupted somewhere in the system where the HDD is located.
