As others have mentioned before, the fan on the dv6700t is maddening; it's loud and it won't turn off until your core temperatures go to 30 degrees C (which only happens at startup), and speedfan can't find the fan.
I was able to extract the ACPI DSDT table from the BIOS image (the version loaded into the registry was corrupted...by HP?) and I've been sifting through the disassembly for two days, but I can't find anything that looks like fan control. Is it possible that HP never put ACPI fan control into the BIOS? It sure seems like HP is going out of their way to prevent us from gaining control of the fan.

I've look at all of the "Device" declarations in the disassembly, and nothing looks like a fan...

    Any ideas?

Most notebooks dont have fan control. Its hard coded into the BIOS ACPI.

The only way to change the fan algorithm is by trying out different BIOS versions.
