I decided about a year ago to buy a dv6700t to replace my Compaq M2000. I finally ordered the one I wanted on July 3, 2008. My estimated build date was July 16th, so I was shocked to have an email this morning telling me my order had been shipped this morning. There was something in the email about adding an additional day for customs clearance. Wanting more information, I sent an email to HP asing whether my order would take two or three business days. I received a message back telling me my estimated buld date was July 16th and I should receive my notebook two business days later. I sent a reply back, clearly stating I already had the email about the order being shipped and a tracking number. I was sent back the same information.
I called HP, hoping to get some answers. The guy on the phone took my information and told me my estimated build and delivery dates. I told him the order had been shipped already and asked if I would receive it Friday or Monday. He said the only think that was certain was that I would receive it by July 18th, as that would be two days after the estimated buld time. I explained that I had paid for two day shipping, but he said he couldn't guarantee I would have it by Friday or Monday. I was starting to lose my patience and asked to speak to his supervisor. (I work in customer service myself, so I try to refrain from taking my frustrations out on others). She told me the same thing he did. I explained myself once more, and was finally told that the customs clearance would be an extra day, so I should receive my notebook on Monday. She also told me if I do not receive the notebook on Monday to call back so I can be refunded the money I paid for two day shipping.
After hanging up with her, I got a response via email. It was someone finally answering the question I had asked rather than give me the estimated build and delivery date over and over. The person wrote that I would receive the order on the 16th or the 17th, as HP doesn't deliver on Mondays. The rep gave me an explanation that makes no sense to me. They said they don't do deliveries on Monday because Monday is the cut off date and FedEx delivers on Tuesdays. What that means, I have no idea.
After all this, I am so confused and don't know what to believe. I talked to some really nice people at FedEx who verified what the supervisor had told me. The order would stay in customs clearance for a day, and I would have my order Monday. Now I am being told I won't receive my order until Tuesday or Wednesday. The email also stated that the shipping time doesn't start until after the order has passed clearance, whereas I thought it was two days, plus a day for customs clearance. I was told by Fedex that the order probably won't reach customs until Friday.
I was wondering if anyone else was had shipping issues, preferably people who chose two business day shipping for their custom notebook. I feel like I am getting the run around and and being told different things by people who are supposed to be working for the same company (the FedEx representatives were the only ones that seemed to know what they were talking about). Each HP I spoke to had no knowledge that my order had been shipped yet until I told them. Even the supervisor told me there wasn't a record that my order had been shipped yet, although she somehow was able to pull up some tracking information for the order.
I'm sorry to rant, it just makes me worry for my future dealings with HP. I pray I don't have any major issues with my notebook in the future. It's been a year or two since I had to call an HP rep, but when I did over a year ago I always had pleasant experiences. These past times have been frustrating. I ask a question and they answer with something unrelated, and if I catch them contradicting themselves, they just agree with whatever it is I say. I am hoping maybe I just wasn't explaining myself clearly or something, as I want to still have pleasant encounters with HP when need be.
Also, I asked what an HP Home & Office in-box envelope is, as it comes with the notebook, and no one knows. Mind you, I have been asking the HP reps...
