Just got a dv6880se that is apparently DOA. The unit will power up but no monitor at all. Tried Fn F4 to toggle the display and even tried an external monitor. Nada. All the lights on the keyboard come on at power up and stay on. No beeps from the unit at all.

I've tried re-searting the memory cards and making sure the hard drive was seated properly. Still no display.

HP wants the unit shipped to them with a 10 business day turnaround, but this is a gift and I'd like to do whatever I can to avoid giving it late.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Send it back, and purchase it from a store? I think that may be your only way.

If bought direct from HP, HP will honour a DOA replacement. However, it will take up to 10 business days to ship out a replacement if preconfigured. CTO units may take longer than that.

    Thanks,

I bought it from an online retailer as I could not find the unit in stores in my area. This is the particular unit the person we're buying for wants, etc. etc.

Long story short(er), the retailer says HP warranty prevails and HP sounds to be in no hurry to make this right in the necessary timeframe.

Disappointing outcome but I know I'm not unique here.
