    Hi all,

For so many years, HP has been touting their "Brightview" glossy screen technology. I've hated it so much, but eventually, all notebooks had glossy screens, so I learned to accept it ... because business notebooks are too expensive.

I was going through HP's website, and I noticed that the dv6t's 1080p screen upgrade was marked as "antiglare" ... for dv6t owners: Is the screen matte (aka not glossy)?

If it is, I've waited so many years for this day to come! Matte screens are so awesome! :D

    Yes!!! :D :D :D

Time to get rid of the dm3t... Wonder how much it's worth. The only flaws is that the battery is getting old, the trackpad isn't the best, and the freaking GLOSSY screen.

Does anyone find it funny 5 or 6 years ago glossy screens were a $50 upgrade and antiglares were the standard... Now antiglare costs $150 more than a glossy?

I could hardly use my asus 1215n at work as it was stupid glossy. The 1080p matte is amazingly better. Hardly any glare and sharper than my eyes can see. The color seems fine to me as well. I guess if you a/b it to a professionally calibrated monitor with 95% gamut the dv6 might look a bit off, but for day to day use and screwing around in photoshop or gimp it is pretty damn nice. Hell, I went to artschool, took a graduate level "color mixing and matching" class and without a/b'ing screens the dv6 1080p screen is almost perfect.

    Hmmm ... I'm so tempted to order the dv6t + 1080p

How much do you guys think an almost 2 year old Core 2 Duo P9000-series laptop (in good/very good condition, regularly cleaned) would go for? HP quotes a $185 which I think is too low ... this laptop is still fairly new, so I might sell on Amazon, where I have a good sell record. Specs are below. I would replace the SSD with a HD though.

I won't get rid of this laptop unless I get ~$500-ish for it. I don't grow money, so my budget doesn't really accommodate a laptop yet.

Not much tbh. Someone could just get a new budget laptop with superior performance for like $350 from Best Buy or something. Maybe even less, if they waited for a sale.

That laptop minus the SSD would only be worth about $200. Assuming that 160 SSD is X25-M G2 it alone would be worth $150-$200 depending on how much use its had.

The matte screen on this laptop has spoiled my eyes. I know have problem using screens not matte (anti glare) such as my TV, phone, and ipad

Lol, I thought this question was answered long ago!

I think ANYONE you ask who has this laptop (Almost everyone has 1080p)...the screen looks pretty dang amazing.

    Edit: ...and it is Matte.

Yes, it's matte, and also very anti-smudge. Resists fingerprints marvelously. Everyone that has seen it is very impressed. I love it!
