I've been looking to a get a laptop for college, and the dv6t looks pretty damn appealing with its low price and good specs. I'd just like to know what exactly are the main differences between the "regular" version and the Select Edition one? Also, is the price difference worth it?

I too was looking at the difference between these models.

SE offers : upgrade to Backlit keyboard, Brushed aluminum finish, upgrade Touchscreen lcd, upgrade to finger-print reader...and it seems to be .1lb heavier, and a little worse battery life (I would assume due to the extra componets, such as backlit keypad and touch-enabled screen.)

normal model allows for custom colors, but without the above upgrade options.

The Select Edition has a metal finish, fingerprint reader, higher processor options, and the backlit keyboard and touchscreen options. With the free upgrade to 6GB of RAM on the Select Edition right now I would definitely say it is worth it. For $50 more you get a metallic finish, more RAM, and a fingerprint reader.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to look into it more. One last question though. How much of a difference does the high capacity 6 cell battery make?

It has about 12% more capacity (62000 mWh to 55000 mWh) and gets about 15-25 minutes more battery, depending on the config.
