Well I'm actually choosing between these two exact laptops myself. Between the two you have listed there's not much difference besides the Blu-Ray player on the DV6t. Gaming is my concern, so I need to consider a high end video card. If it were me, I would have to go with the HDX16t hands down (I couldn't live with an integrated graphics card).

So will you be playing games or just concerned with movies?

Thank Chris for the reply. I am not going to be doing any gaming on laptop but likely watching lot of video.

I ordered a HDX16t on Mar 11, 2009 (original ship date 19th March) but it was late in production due to some parts being not available and is shipping tommorow. I just called HP to cancel the order.

I am tending towards dv6t because It is cheaper, I don't do gaming, I get a tuner and bluray for a lower price, higher battery life, low heat. If you do do gaming and want 1080p it looks like HDX16t is better option.

I was just choosing between these two computers myself. There isn't a lot of information out there about the dv6t, but I went with it anyway. In my case it was slightly cheeper and it is supposedly a little lighter than the HDX16 and that is important for me as I will be carrying it around campus a lot.

If you want it for watching movies, the optional full HD screen on the hdx16 might be better, but the resolution is too small for me on this size- I have a 23" HD monitor to hook it up to. 1600x900 would be better in my opinion, but neither of these notebooks offer it. You've chosen 1366x768 on both so in theory, they should be about the same.

In your two selections, you have the better graphics card chosen for the HDX16. If you want to play games, go with that one. You chose blu ray on the dv6t which would be better for movie watching. If you want to spend the money, you can upgrade the dv6t to the ati 4650 graphics or add a blu-ray player to the HDX16t and get both advantages.

    Given your two selections,
    pros HDX16:
    Graphics

    pros dv6t:
    blu-ray
    faster hard drive
bluetooth (should be easily added to the hdx16t if you want it)

I am assuming you configured them this way based on price and personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. They are very similarly configured. It comes down to what you want - better gaming or blu-ray. If you will never play games other than freecell on your laptop, don't worry about the graphics card. I got the 4650 on my dv6t because I needed more power than the integrated graphics, but if you don't need graphics but will be wanting to watch blu-ray movies, go for the blu-ray player over the graphics card.

Thanks Chrissy. Your reply is very helpful. I am likely going to go for dv6t based on my need.
