Hey everyone, I'm considering adding an SSD to my dv6t-6100, but want to know if it's possible to swap it with the optical drive. I've looked around and couldn't find any solid answers, but it seems it is possible, just want to verify.

Assuming it is possible, what caddy can I buy that isn't too expensive to house the SSD? Thanks!

I swapped the optical drive for a 2 terabyte drive. Getting the tray in not too hard. Just look on ebay. However, most of them will not take the cover for the blu-ray drive, so I had to do some mods to the tray to make it work. It's not too hard, but it's definitely not plug and play. For me, getting a second drive was a requirement and even if it meant the tray would look a little funny, I was ok with it, but in the end I got it to work by cutting some slots into the tray. I would recommend using the ssd in the original hard drive slot and not putting a ssd in the optical. I don't think it is quite as fast. Also, because of power management, I don't think having raided ssd would make any difference in speed. Good luck!
