Hey guys, I just ordered the following system. I was wondering if anybody could post some temps. I am really excited to get this, but am a bit worried about high temps. I currently have the dv4-1313dx, and it gets really really hot and if the one I just ordered is anyhwere near that I am just going to mess around with it for a few days and return in. I would really appreciate if ya'll could post some temps, idle and after taxing, and perhaps just after using the internet for a bit

I ordered this instead of the Sager NP5165, because the Sager is apparently horrible at heat dissipation. I've heard no so good things about my system as well, i'm just hoping its a little better.

Check through the gaming thread. They have posted temps. Keep in mind that some of them have overclocked their GPU's.

If you've turned off the discrete graphics for the dv6tqe, you really shouldn't have any heat problems whatsoever. I don't own mine yet, but I've read as much cruising around these forums and scanning reviews.

I think somewhere around here someone tried to replace the thermal paste with ArcticSilver (maybe another high end paste...I don't remember) and didn't really see any gains. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with your question.

On the Intel: no heat whatsoever.
On the Radeon and surfing: barely warmish.
On Radeon during gaming :pretty warm, and i mean warm not hot.

I really don't get distracted by the heat, i feel it but its really better than previous generations.

This is very pleasing to me as I believe my old Asus had some overheat problems that led to some smoke shooting out the vent. Then is would no longer charge. Even though this isnt known to get too hot Im still going to invest in a decent cooler.

Certainly very encouraging. do you happen to have any actual temps? Do you have HWmonitor to check? i'd love to see some actual temps.

    Thanks!

I'd say that's a little more than "some overheat problems"...more like "meltdown" !

Been using dv6tqe for nearly 1 month

I get around 37-40c with the intel graphics turned on

With the Radaeon Graphics i get around 40-45c

I have never passed 46c even while playing videos, streaming, or downloading.

P.S. I don't play any games so i would not know about that aspect of it.

I sometimes check them and the max i got must have been 84 on the Radeon and around 78 for the i7.
One thing to make sure of is really make sure the side vent is absolutely free.
The air coming out is always warm almost hot so don't put anything in front of it or your temps will quickly raise.
I ve kept my setting on Optimize on Coolsense but you can put it on max and you will gain maybe 5 to 10 ° but at the price of a loud fan.

Wow, your temps seem to be significantly lower than anybody else's i've seen anywhere on this forum. Did you reapply thermal compound?

Hey, could you use you comp on high performance settings and use the internet for a bit and tell me what temps you get?

I don't mind a little heat when gaming, but the thing that irks me about my current laptop is the intense amount of heat it generates when I am just browsing but have maximum settings on. I like to keep them on because it makes the comp run snappier. Would like to know if i will have that same problem with my soon arriving dvstqe

Being on max performance and on the Intel chip won't change anything if you're just browsing.
And the temps won't get much higher than the previous poster (around 50-55 top)
You'll be fine when you get yours ;)

I am actually curious of max performance settings using 6770m. I find that having GPU running while watching 1080p youtube and 4k makes teh experience much faster and smoother. Thanks!
