I just upgraded to Windows 8 (clean install on my C: partition with a D: partition of data left along) and upgraded my BIOS. Pretty much all of the drivers (NVidia, touchpad, wifi/Bluetooth, etc.) installed automatically/worked out of the box.

Now when my external speakers are plugged in and I wake my laptop from sleep, there is a somewhat loud popping noise. This is especially annoying during the night when the power settings cause the laptop to wake from sleep to hibernate (which I can easily change). However, I really don't like the popping sound in general. As far as I remember this didn't happen in Windows 7.

I have not installed the beats drivers because beats is crap (the auto adjusting of the audio level screwed me up when I was cleaning up audio in a video editing project so I found a solution here to disable it when I was on Windows 7). Beats did not automatically install (thankfully).

Has anyone had this issue? Should I try those beats drivers to see if it remedies the situation (I'd really rather not)?
