Hello everyone,
so I have a kind of annoying issue with my dv6tqe-7000. Whenever I close the lid on my laptop, occassionally it will not go to sleep. The HP light logo will stay on and I'll wait a minute but nothing happens.
If I open the laptop during this, the only LEDs that are on are the wifi light and the power button light. It's still clearly running because I can feel the fan. It seems the only option is to hold the power button to turn it off.
Sometimes it just takes longer to enter sleep mode, like 20 seconds - this feels normal to me but when it doesn't go to sleep mode it's quite bothersome. I haven't updated my GPU drivers, so what is the problem and what are some possible solutions?

I'd really bet on the fact that it's with your video drivers--I remember with my old NVIDIA laptop that I needed to update drivers for the sleep and hibernate functions to work properly. I've never heard this issue from AMD GPU's.
)
Try the 306.23 official drivers. They work wonders. -
Thanks man, I'll download it over the weekend. I heard the also increase the frames on some games? I forgot where I read this, or if it's this specific driver but I know I've seen that somewhere.

I posted about it, too. It's noticeable over, say, 304.48. It's only almost by a few frames going from the previous beta to this one, though. But good nonetheless.

The power options were the first things I checked though, and they were fine. I thought the problem was the way I closed the lid - I let the lid down very gently so I thought it may have thought I was trying to wake it after I'm at a certain angle.
I let the lid's weight close its own - I didn't slam it but I didn't slowly let it down like before. For awhile it seemed to work, but just awhile ago the problem had occurred again.
I'm downloading both the new GPU driver and integrated GPU driver as I'm typing. -
Unfortunately it did it again. Just awhile ago it looked like it wasn't going to do so, but it just took a lot longer - up to a whole minute to sleep. I opened it later and then closed the lid, this time waiting 3 minutes. It didn't go to sleep, so I had to shut it off again.
I'm almost certain this wasn't a problem when I first got it - I used it for 2 1/2 weeks and it went to sleep fine - also, on an unrelated note, I didn't have the primary click issue I mentioned in a previous thread.
Could it be a driver I had updated or a process that's preventing sleep? I know I updated my BIOS. -
