    O.K.
I just joined the club, I bought hp dv6tqe with following specifications:
    CPU: i7 2630QM, GPU: AMD 6770m (1 G.), RAM: 8 GB., HDD: 1 TB., DISPLAY: 1366x768 (CMO) :(

I have one annoying problem, my fan seems to work at max. speed continuously, it is loud and audible.
I updated to latest BIOS, tried changing CoolSence setting, disable fan always on in BIOS, but the fan kept going loud.
my CPU temp while idle (45-52)C / stress (87-91)C
    GPU idle (50)C / stress 82C
the CPU only throttle during extreme stress (prime+future) tests

the strange thing that the fan speed is always at the same speed (loud) during idle and stress condition without change!!!

    Please advice, thanks.

I had a similar problem after disassembling my laptop. The power cable attaching the fan to the motherboard was lose, so the fan was stuck at full blast. I had the "play" with the cable to get it to work again. If you didn't damage the laptop, you may need to get it serviced. If you are comfortable with opening it, you can try wiggling the power cable and hoping that that works.

    Good Luck

    + rep.

what a good quality control hp., did anyone test these laptops???
i have to completely disassemble the whole laptop to get to fan power cable which was loose!!!

N.B.: we have no hp warranty or service here, so I have to do it myself taking the risk of damaging the laptop. THANKS HP

I have a dv7 quad 6000 I got in May. Recently, it's started running the fan full blast for about 5 - 10 seconds when it's powered on and coming out of standby. Really annoying. I know it didn't do that until recently.

After 5 or 10 seconds, it slows down to normal and works like it ought to.

I think it started when the HP care stuff updated the BIOS. If anyone knows a fix, I'd love to hear it.

This is normal on dv6/dv7. Some said it is doing it so any dust will come out before working at low speeds.

It doesn't do it every time, but lately it's been doing it more.

Just now I started it from a full shutdown and it did what I consider a normal spin up - It spun the fan up to what I'd guess is about 3/4 full speed for about 1 - 2 seconds at most, then goes down to normal, silent.

What it's started doing lately sometimes is it will do the same thing, but just when the fan starts slowing down during the POST, it goes to full speed, definitely louder and faster than the usual little burst at startup. It also lasts like I said about 5 - 10 seconds, until Windows is running, then it spins back down to normal again. It also started doing it when it comes out of standby as well, which I don't remember it doing until lately.

I can't think of any reason why it does it sometimes and not others and that's the strange thing

It's only really a big deal for me when I'm in bed and my wife or kids are sleeping. I do use a Targus cooling pad in bed, so it's not sitting on my sheets or anything like that.

@peganhobbit I doubt it is bios, then all of is would have the same behavior. Did you do any amd graphics update other that what's available on hp support site?

@martyras, thanks for the reply. That's what I was wondering, if others were experiencing the same thing. Only thing I can think of is I did update the touchpad driver from Synaptic's site so I could get corner taps on the touchpad. Maybe that did it.

    Thanks again for the reply!
