dv7/dv6 7000 series secondary HD/ssd cables and caddys

Since newmodeUS doesn't have any cables or caddys available for the 7000 series dv6 and dv7, where is everyone ordering theirs from?

There has to be more reasonably priced and easier places to deal with than HP to order these that ACTUALLY HAVE THEM IN STOCK AND AVAILABLE.

Also, does the dv7 7000 series ALREADY come with the secondary hard drive caddy and bracket? All you need to do is add the cable?

The part(s) on that link are NOT compatible with the 7000 series laptops. Only the 6000 series.

Turns out the dv7-7000 does not have the caddy and bracket

 

Thanks for the confirmation. Another user confirmed the same in another thread as well. Looks like they decided to cut the included caddy out to save on cost.

 

I emailed newmodeUS.com to see if they had any idea on when they would get the 7000 series parts in, the response I got:

My guess is, is that they could be a month or so away.

Is the SATA port for the secondary hard drive right next to it, or does it take a long cable and connect over by the primary drive?

On the 6000 series the SATA ports are over by the primary hard drive. There is not a SATA port near the secondary hard drive.

 

I just ordered a 12.7mm Universal CD/DVD HDD caddy from ny-compu-tek on eBAY for ~$10 to swap out the BD-ROM on my dv6. I have a spare 2.5 HDD lying around to test it on.

 

Off topic a little but I just ordered a DV7-7000 with the same config as you but I chose not to have the 1080p screen (for 150 buck I will order an external monitor and when side side with the HD screen and non, I could not see a difference, but I am old and my eyesite is not that good.).

I had a question, did you test the speed of the SSD? Is it trully Sata3 or Sata6gb? I read elsewhere that the interface was Sata 2 only and the the speeds were quite slow. I am getting ready to order a 240gb SSD and I wanted to know if you did some ATTO disk testing to see how well the Sata bus functions.
