I recently bought the dv7-1175nr notebook
Specs:
320GB SATA hard drive (5400 rpm)
Blu-ray Disc-enabled DVD±RW/CD-RW drive
17" WXGA+ high-definition widescreen display(1440 x 900)
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics
Intel® Core2 Duo processor T5800
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition 64-bit operating system
I got it for movies and games so i decided to buy the orange box because i heard that it was not to demanding. But for some reason team fortress 2 just wont play nice. even when i turn down all the settings i still get low frame rates when im in a server by myself?
Does anyone have any suggestions? Help

What drivers are you using?
-
Download THESE Drivers.
-
im thinking of getting the DV7-1020ea which is a similar setup. Would you recommend the system/HP etc?
Thanks, -

i have only had this laptop for a week but so far i really liked it minus the gaming issue thing.

Thanks for the quick replies

Driver version: 7.15.11.7928 -
I have the same specs than you and TF2 works perfectly all maxed out with outstanding FPS.
-
-
I used to have custom drivers but they heated a bit too much the laptop, so I chosed to go back with Nvidia notebook drivers and they work perfect -
-
Read this guide.
You currently have driver version 179.28 which isnt that old. That is weird, you should be able to play TF2 smoothly on medium settings.
Make sure you disable AA or AF, this will eat up performance the higher the setting. Also try using 1280x800 resolution.
Use HWMonitor to check you system temperatures. -
I have that exact model. I reinstalled windows it runs alot better
-
-
So i reinstalled it and it runs a little better but it should still do better. I ran the bioshock demo and it did fine on my native resolution (1440x900). Any help guys?
-
Lower your resolution. To have your settings higher, you need to lower the res. as well.
And please do not double, triple, or quadruple post. Use the Edit button. Thanks. -
-
Bioshock should run at medium settings on full resolution.
Did you update your drivers?
Also what max temps are you getting for the cpu and gpu after gaming? -
I had similar issues with a few games I tried a few months back. Re-installing windows and applying the latest drivers using a modified ini file worked for me.
also make sure to run every game at lowest setting first and work your way up until it is suitable for you. -
I set zombie panic at lowest settings and still not getting very playable frame rate. It jumps up to playable once and a while but not for the most part.
Edit:I think i got it actually. The battery setting was at long life instead of performance. I think switching did the trick. Ill check back later. -
battery mode will cut the performance dramatically.
-
I never use battery mode to play games. Always have it plugged it at all times for best performance.
dv7 performance issues?
