my mute button at the top of my computer functions, but does not change color when i mute or unmute something i'm watching or listening to. it does however make a popping noise and change color at what seems like random, just when clicking through websites. it will change color and making this popping noise but it won't actually mute. the color changing is not really an issue for me it's just the random "pop" sound i get that can get very annoying and have no idea how to get it running again properly. it's been like this for several weeks and can't trace it back to anything i've done around that time. any ideas?

I remember the same issue occured in my PC 10-15 days before the Quick Launch Buttons failed. I had to replace the buttons in the service center.

would disabling them fix it you think (and if so, how)? i don't even use the buttons so that'd be a "problem solved" for me.

You can uninstall the entire program HP QLB from Add/Remove Programs List. It wouldn't matter if you seldom use it.
