    i had the choice from these 2 laptops and went for the dv7-1050

    did i make the right choice ?

    It depends what the specs are of the dv7 vs the HDX16?

    You made the right pick ;)
    The DV7 has a p8600 cpu vs. the p8400 in the HDX
    The DV7 has a 500GB hard drive vs. the 320GB in the HDX

    The rest of the specs like ram, video card, ect are the same so you did make the right decision.
