There hasn't been any Nvidia recall on any graphics chip. There are reported heat problems with the 8400GS and 8600GT.

The specs on the laptop itself are good. The price isn't spectacular.

Costco gives you the best deal. Return within 90 days, 2 year HP pickup/return support. HP site pricing for this Costco laptop is $1962 -$150 rebate = $1812 vs. $1199. No one beats Costco because you get 2 year HP support.

I'm buying one today only if they have the bronze one, otherwise order from Costco.com.
