    Hi gang,

    Win 7 ultimate installed.

I kept the SWsetup from the old vista install on hand, and got all the drivers/software listed on HP's site.

I'm just about done getting everything setup, I only cannot find what package enables the quick play button over the keyboard, and the stop, fwd, back, and stop/pause keys.

I have the media smart stuff installed, the link to the menu comes up, and I have mute, volume onscreen with those touch keys (without any of that clicking noise, a welcome relief).

Not that I really use those touch keys, just want it perfect hehe ...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    M.

ok in your SWSETUP folder, did you see a folder called QLB?? I believe that's the one you need to install to get those buttons working. I used to have that same laptop, sold it about 3 1/2 months ago to get a Dragon :D . But I had Windows 7 on it before i sold it and I got those buttons to work in Windows 7. If necessary I will go and get it back from the owner to see how i did it (buyer is a friend of mine).

    Hi remy,

Yeah, I tried that. Also tried the new quick launch for win 7 in the downloads section. I'll go back as I also kept every other DL'd package installed in vista during the time I've had it.

I know that this button in vista would bring up the media smart menu, and I have that link.

I found in windows media player that the stop button, play/pause function, but not the fwd / rwd buttons. could be tied to HP's SW, but havent tried yet.

Don't get me wrong, if I don't happen to solve this, I won't be too dissapointed, as I dont really use those too much anyway. Just bugs me to hell ...

Funny thing is some of the win 7 stuff HP put out wants to write commands to c:\hp\tmp but never seemed to install the apps, I just used the older ones from my old swsetup for that.

Let me know what you find, thanks.

OK, I asked the person I sold mine to if they could bring theirs over. See, I am like you, things like that irk me to no end. It won't keep me from going on and enjoying Windows 7, but it I can fix it, I will. So soon as they can get over here I can look at it and see what i did to get that working. I know it's software and a driver involved.

    Yep, were the same.

Let me tell you a desktop tale of woe.

I OC my big rig, and at some point I reset the bios, which took my drive controller back to IDE from ACHI. going back to ACHI wasn't hard, but then my drives and ROMs show up as removable.

Finally had to reformat today, then I figured out I needed to install my intel raid management. Issue solved, the only drive that shows up is my WD MyBook 1Tb, which currently is connected by firewire, will switch to esata shortly.

I'm lovin my laptop more and more, but I know right now that if I have to kill off my desktop like that again, I can be back up and running with all apps and saved data in about 4 hours hehehe.

Let me know here, or PM me when you know something, thanks!

Ok, I finally got a look at my old Laptop that i sold. Do you have anything in Device Manager that is missing a driver? If you do, then I know how to fix that. If you don't then I am stumped. Because I remember that a driver was missing, and it turned out to be the driver for the Quick Launch buttons over the keyboard. Now the QuickPlay buttom itself will not work without the quickPlay software, as it's only suppose to pull up QuickPlay. But the other buttons are suppose to work with your media software, not just QuickPlay.
And one more thing, I hear that somewhere in these porums there is a program that you can install that will let you remap your QuickPlay buttons. Do a search and check it out.

    Hey Remy,

No drivers missing, however I never had quickplay installed, so I went and remapped the key to WMP (I believe on mine it was mapped to the mediasmart menu before, ?i dont believe I ever saw quickplay...).

Works fine! So I think I'm all set on the DV7, yay!

My stop/pause and other keys work in any player, so it was the map to the non existant SW that was it.

You have my thanks, any time you need something, let me know.
