I bought a HP 90w smart adapter off of ebay which is supposed to be compatabile with the dv7 notebooks. When the adapter arrived, it wasn't the smart adapter, but rather the HP 90w AC notebook adapter EH642AA.

Is that model adapter compatible? My new dv7 had a defective display and had to be returned so I can't check the connectivity.

The dingdong technical CSR at HP chat first tells me the smart adapter is a car jack, then changes his story and tells me the EH642AA is a car jack, and since I have the latter in my possession, told him in no uncertain terms it is a plug in for the house.

Any help appreciated! I'm thinking that perhaps the 90w smart adapter is the newer model of the EH642AA?
